2. What is the dustproof and waterproof standard “IP protection grade” for cameras?
Internationally, IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) standards IEC 144, IEC 529 and DIN 40 050 classify the dust and water resistance of protective structures of equipment and define test methods for them. In Japan, Japan Industrial Standards and the Japan Electrical Manufacturers’ Association standardize IP ratings based on IEC529.
The dustproof and waterproof grades are expressed as “IP●●”, the former is the grade against dust and the latter is the grade against waterproofing. If only waterproofness is indicated, it will be “IPX●”.
