What is Protection Class IP67?

Protecting the camera even in harsh environments!

Protection class IP67 is one of the protection ratings defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) under the “IEC 60529” standard, indicating dust and water resistance.

Meaning of IP67
● IP (Ingress Protection): A standard that indicates the level of protection provided to internal equipment from external solids and liquids.

● The first 6 = Dust-tight (completely dustproof): This means complete protection from dust. The device is fully protected from the ingress of dust, ensuring that fine sand or particles cannot enter the interior. This is the highest dust protection level in the IP standard.

● The second 7 = Water-resistant: This indicates the device can withstand temporary immersion in water. Specifically, it guarantees that the device will continue to function normally even when submerged in water at a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.

Summary

● Complete dustproof: Fully protects internal components from fine solids like dust and sand.

● Water-resistant to 1 meter depth for 30 minutes: The device will continue to function normally even after being submerged in water at a depth of 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.

This rating means the device has excellent protection against dust and high water resistance to temporary submersion. It is often applied to industrial equipment, smartphones, camera housings, and other devices used in harsh environments.

Being IP67 compliant, it can be installed without issue in demanding environments!

IP67 refers to a protection rating defined by JIS C0920, which indicates “complete dust-tight” dust protection and high water resistance to temporary submersion, offering excellent waterproof performance.

The camera housing from autoVimation uses an aluminum alloy with high thermal conductivity as the primary material to maximize heat dissipation performance. Aluminum is lightweight yet effective in transferring heat, enabling quick release of internal heat to the external environment.

The housing features a proprietary rib (heat sink) structure on the exterior. This increases the surface area and enhances the contact area with the air, allowing heat to dissipate efficiently. This design maximizes the cooling effect through natural convection and helps to control internal temperature rise.

3. Supports both natural and forced convection cooling
The housing is designed with natural convection cooling in mind, ensuring effective heat dissipation even without fans. Additionally, options for forced convection cooling are available, providing extra protection for cameras in more extreme temperature environments.

Thanks to autoVimation’s patented housing structure (heat-guide / quick-lock camera mount), the entire housing functions as a heat sink for the camera.
