WHEN USING THE LENGTH MEASURING FUNCTION OF A MICROSCOPE FOR QUALITY CONTROL

PRECAUTIONS WHEN USING THE HUB TO MOVE THE USB CAMERA

Basically, it is more stable to connect directly to the USB port of the PC.
(If the power supply of the PC is vulnerable, the self-powered HUB may be stable.) )
There are a few things to keep in mind when using HUB.

 

1.Please use USB3.0 HUB.

  If you use the USB 2.0 type, it basically does not work.
  However, if you adjust the number of clocks on the camera side, the image may be displayed.
  However, the speed is extremely slow, and the low-resolution camera is reflected, but the high-resolution camera is

2.Please use the self-powered HUB as much as possible.

  Especially if you are using a notebook PC, using USB bus power will increase the supply current to the camera.

If the C-State function of the PC is enabled, some symptoms may occur.

C-State is a feature that switches the CPU to a low-power mode to reduce the power consumption of the PC. This feature can cause insufficient power supply via USB, resulting in video delays and unstable video display when using devices such as USB cameras.

In Windows 10, C-State is specifically enabled for the purpose of extending battery life and saving energy.

C-State is a separate feature from the energy saving mode in the power plan. If changing the power plan from Energy Saver or Balanced to High Performance does not help, it is recommended to disable C-State.

It is possible to disable C-State from the BIOS, but since the BIOS settings vary depending on the manufacturer, it is difficult to generalize the specific operation method.

HOW TO CONVERT VIDEO SIGNAL TO USB

Video signal is a widely used video transmission method, and many external devices are available in the market.

The camera we use in our high-definition microscope already has this line generation feature as a standard. Therefore, you can easily and affordably generate lines without any additional expenses.

HOW TO DISPLAY AND CONTROL IMAGES FROM MULTIPLE USB CAMERAS ON A SINGLE COMPUTER

There are two ways to display 2 images or 4 screens (or more multiple screens) with a USB camera.

 

(1) Simply use multiple launches of Viewer software that can be started at the same time.
(2) Use software dedicated to multi-screen display.

 

1. Launch the Viewer software at the same time.

It may also be possible with free software.
However, it may not be possible to do it with the same camera, and stability is lacking.
We recommend that you always try it before using it.
(Depending on the software, multiple activation itself may be prohibited.) 

 

The following is a simple trial at our company. (Operation is not guaranteed.) 

I connected two of our cameras and started multiple free software called Amcap to display two screens.

2. Use dedicated multi-screen display software.

HOW TO SAVE AN IMAGE WITH AN EXTERNAL TRIGGER

「Even if the camera does not have an external trigger terminal, we sometimes receive requests from customers who want to save images using an external trigger.
In such a case, why not use a ready-made input box?

For example, “Save” is set to “Ctrl+S”.

In other words, instead of pressing “Ctrl+S” on the keyboard, you can save the image being displayed in the Viewer software Measure by turning on the external switch.

This time, I tried using “Anything Switch USB” (made by Techno Tool Co., Ltd.) as a ready-made input box.

②Comparison of simultaneous observation by incorporating an eyepiece micrometer into a metallurgical microscope (comparison method)

Insert an eyepiece micrometer (reticle) with printed grain size sample into the eyepiece of the metallurgical microscope, and visually observe and compare the enlarged sample and the grain size standard sample to determine the grain size .

An eyepiece micrometer (reticle) with the pattern printed below is inserted into the eyepiece of a metallurgical microscope, the magnified sample and its pattern pass inside the crystal grain, creating an average line per crystal grain. The method complies with JIS G0551/ASTM E112 standard for length determination and particle size calculation.
